Discussion Board #2: Guided Reading

Chapter Thirty-Four: The Medical Records
8.       How does Deborah respond when Skloot suggests photocopying some of Henrietta’s records? Why do you think she responds this way? How can you tell that Elsie’s photograph and autopsy are deeply troubling to Deborah? What causes the confrontation between Deborah and Skloot? How is it resolved? Why do you think Deborah breaks out in hives after visiting Crownsville and giving Skloot access to the medical records?
Deborah gets Nervous abour rebbeca having all the records so she comes to rebbecas room and insisted that they go through everything together . Deborah fears and changes in mood and makes every minute as difficult as she could . The photograph was and the autopsy was  troubling  this is seen  by how she sat quietly for along time . Also by her shaking her head showed a sign of disapproval. The conforntation was started as resuly of deborah thinking that Rebbeca was not sincere . Rebecca basically stood up got off her grip and sttod fo herself. The mistrust that Deborah had after being taken advantage of initially, not knowing who is and whose not to trust . The Unsureness and Uncertainity .
Chapter Thirty-One: Hela, Goddess of Death
4.       How did Skloot finance the research for her book? What did she promise to do for the Lacks family if and when the book was published?
Rebbeca finance publishing the book via credit cards and student loans . Its very say that she couldnt have found a publishing house that couldve stepped in so as to get thing sout in the public sooner .  Rebecca primised to set up a foundation from the books benefits  that could assist with tuition and other family needs . She also helped out deborah in teaching her how to use a computer as seen later she became obbsessed in doing research about her mum.
Chapter Thirty-Seven: “Nothing to Be Scared About”
11.   What physical ailments did Deborah suffer from as a result of the excitement and stress of seeing her mother’s cells for the first time, and learning about Elsie? Why did Deborah decide to go back to school? Why was Deborah unable to attend the National Foundation for Cancer Research’s Henrietta Lacks conference? Explain how Davon’s heroic actions saved Deborah’s life. What obstacle kept Deborah from realizing her dream of returning to school? 




Deborah suffered from blood pressure and her blood sugar being high  as a result of confusion . She saw a doctor who adviced her to reduce stress;she did reduce doing research trips and thereafter started making contact with rebbeca who from this point was only telling her positive developments . Deborah was unable to attend the deborah lacks confrence because the confrence was cancelled and there after september 11 th occured  . Davon besically cried for help ,ren out opened the car doors preparing the back seat for her grandma to be placed on there . The Obstacle that kept Deborah away from realising her dream in returning to school was her ill health 
                                                                                                                                                                                                   
Chapter Thirty-Six: Heavenly Bodies
10.   Summarize Gary’s spiritual explanation for why Henrietta’s cells lived on after her death. Discuss the impact that witnessing the interaction between Gary and Deborah––and, later, talking with Gary––had on Skloot. What new perspective did she gain after these experiences?
. Deborah had gone to see her Doctor about her hives  when Rebeccas stated behind to talk to Gey about what had transpired the night before. He explains how he sees Helas cells as emortal life . He gave a bile to Rebbecca and read her passages that describe changes from life on earth  to life after death , the diffrence between heavinly and earthly bodies . To Gary Hela is Henrietta Spiritual Body . Rebbeca begins to undertand how Deborah and her family could find more to believe in this idea than in any explanations offered by all scietists out there .

    I'm so glad that I was able to read through your essays and discussion board posts this semester. I think you are a wonderful writer, and I found myself always wanting to know what you had to say about a topic. Your essay topics were always great and I feel like I know you through your writing.
